TRAINING-related injuries have added a handful of names to Port Adelaide’s injury list at the completion of the split opening round.

While the Power welcomed back Alipate Carlile from injury with a solid performance for the Magpies League side against Central District on Saturday afternoon, several players have been added to the club’s injury list.

Mason Shaw will undergo scans on a wrist injury sustained in the opening half of that trial match, although teammate Tom Logan is expected to train fully despite leaving the ground late in the game.

Andrew Moore - recently cleared of a shoulder injury - has been re-added to the Power’s rehab group after sustaining a knock to his AC joint in a training exercise last week.

The sprain is expected to keep him out of action for at least a week.

Lewis Stevenson also injured a toe while training and is likely to be available for a return to action by Round 4.

“Both are unfortunate injuries to have this early in the season, but the good news with Moorey is that he shouldn’t miss more than two weeks,” Burgess told portadelaidefc.com.au.

“He just copped a hit at training and has a minor sprain, he should be back and fully training shortly.”

Campbell Heath has had his return from a shin injury reassessed, with the backman now projected to return in mid to late April.

Burgess explained Heath was now training pain-free from shin soreness, but had initially been unresponsive to the fitness team’s rehabilitation program.

“We couldn’t get him going at first and his shin problem just wasn’t responding to the rehab we were giving him,” Burgess said.

“We’ve wound him back a bit and he’s now had no pain for a couple of weeks. It’s a conservative assessment for his return but we think he’ll keep responding well now.”

Rookie-listed Sam Russell will meet with surgeons to determine whether further action needs to be taken on what Burgess described as a “significant hamstring tendon” injury.

He has been initially slated for a return in 8-10 weeks.

Magpies win at Elizabeth

The Magpies senior-list injury stocks were unaffected from Saturday’s trial game against the Bulldogs, with Danny Butcher now expected to be available for Round 1 against Norwood.

Port Adelaide will play two games this weekend, with the Magpies playing North Adelaide in their final trial game before the start of the IGA League season on Friday night, while the Power will host the Crows in the historic first Showdown at the redeveloped Adelaide Oval on Saturday.
