PORT ADELAIDE defender Martin Frederick has been nominated as a finalist for the SANFL’s goal of the year.
Frederick received the nomination for the Channel 7 Goal of the Year for his coast to coast effort in the Magpies’ win over West Adelaide in Round 12, which saw him first take possession on half back.
The teenager marked a switched ball on defensive 50 before chipping short to teammate Trent McKenzie.
Frederick received a handball from McKenzie as he overlapped through the middle, this time chipping to Willem Drew.
He continued to run through the centre as Drew handpassed to Billy Frampton, who gathered and continued the handball chain, returning it to Frederick.
The Power rookie ran to 40 metres, steadied and nailed the goal – his first in senior football.
