ONE of Port Adelaide’s newest recruits has been impressed with his new teammates as they prepare for Sunday’s massive T20 Showdown against the Crows.
Adelaide Strikers opening batsman Phil Salt was selected by Port Adelaide vice-captain Hamish Hartlett in Wednesday’s cricket player draft along with his Strikers teammates Travis Head and Harry Nielsen, Redbacks paceman Chadd Sayers and Scorpions all rounder Sarah Lowe to represent the Power on Sunday.
Englishman Salt is excited to take part in the fundraiser, which will see proceeds donated to the SA Bushfire Appeal to help those directly impacted by the recent fires in the Adelaide Hills and on Kangaroo Island.

And the big-hitting right hander has promised to take the game seriously, despite the opposition attack being weaker than what he is used to.
“I’m gonna go proper hard!” Salt said on Adelaide radio on Thursday morning.
“A few of the (Power) boys came down to training and had a go the other day and they were actually surprisingly good.
“Somebody told me footy players played cricket in their off season and most cricketers played footy in their off season when they were growing up, so I reckon the standard is going to be pretty good.”
Salt has promised to look out for former Crows captain Taylor Walker when the big man bowls.
The 23-year-old has been in fine form in the Big Bash League in his debut season in Adelaide scoring 356 runs in 14 games with an average strike rate of 164.81.
He will be hoping to play a big role for the Strikers in their Elimination Final at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night before his real test against the Crows the following day.
Tickets to the big game are available through Ticketek and donations to the T20 Bushfire Appeal can be made here.
