2004 Premiership hero and Norm Smith Medallist, Byron Pickett, has returned to the Port Adelaide Football Club as an assistant within Power Community Ltd’s Aboriginal engagement arm.

Pickett will assist Aboriginal Engagement and Employment Manager, Paul Vandenbergh, in regional community visits and cultural awareness training. 

Himself from Western Australia, Pickett belongs to the Badimaya (Mt Magnet) and Balardung (Quairading) Language Groups. 

His Cultural Groups are Yamatji and Noongah.

Pickett played 55 games and kicked 80 goals with the Power between 2003 and 2005 after beginning his AFL career at North Melbourne. He first played League football with Port Adelaide in the SANFL.

He and fellow Port Adelaide alumni Peter and Shaun Burgoyne are the products of the Mallee Park Football Club, as with former Port Adelaide (SANFL) and now Adelaide defender, Graham Johncock.
