PORT ADELAIDE defeated Geelong by 11 points at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night, to end a four-game losing streak against the Cats.

Port moved to seventh on the ladder at the completion of the bye rounds, with a 7-6 record.

Port can match the best with four-quarter performances:

Ken Hinkley was proud of his side’s 11-point win over Geelong, and lauded the group’s four-quarter performance.

The Power led from start to finish, with a six-goal to three opening half setting up the win in front of a boisterous home crowd.

Port had 50 more possessions, 36 more contested possessions, 16 more clearances and 12 more inside 50s, in a strong win over the top-of-the-table Cats.

Lycett’s best game in Power colours:

Lycett was brilliant in the ruck against Geelong on Saturday night, collecting 41 hit-outs, 24 disposals (18 contested) and five marks.

The 26-year-old also had nine clearances, eight inside 50s, three tackles and two goal assists, in a best-on-ground performance.

The former Eagle had career-highs for kicks, disposals and hit-outs against the Cats on Saturday night, to illustrate how good the performance was from the big man.

Boak’s done it again:

Travis Boak amassed 30+ disposals for the 10th time from the opening 13 games of season.

Boak had 30 possessions, 11 clearances, eight tackles and six inside 50s against the Cats in Round 14.

The former skipper had a season-high 38 touches against North Melbourne, and has had 30+ touches against Melbourne (34), Carlton (33), Brisbane (35), Richmond (33), Collingwood (32), Gold Coast (36), St Kilda (33), Fremantle (36) and Geelong.

Clurey’s shutdown job:

Key defender Tom Clurey received plenty of praise from senior coach Ken Hinkley, after keeping Geelong spearhead Tom Hawkins goalless on Saturday night.

Clurey kept Hawkins to zero goals for the first time this season, and it was the first time in the forward’s career he didn’t take a mark.

Clurey on the other hand, had 10 touches, seven marks and seven one-percenters in a dominant defensive role.

Houston’s run-with role:

Dan Houston played in the midfield for a third consecutive week, this time on Cats’ star Tim Kelly.

Houston had 26 disposals (11 contested), six tackles and five clearances, and also kept Kelly to just 17 touches.

The star Cat is tipped to be around the mark for the Brownlow Medal come season’s end, but Houston’s defensive effort kept him to his second least productive game of the year.
