PORT ADELAIDE star Robbie Gray has been recognised as one of the players of the decade in the latest AFL Prospectus in conjunction with Champion Data.
Gray was named in the forward pocket of the ‘AFL Player Ratings Team of the Decade’ after registering 14.0 AFL ranking points per game from 2010-2019.
In that period, the skilful forward/midfielder played 183 games and kicked 266 goals for the Power, with a career-high 47 majors in 2017, and bags of six in a game three times.
The 31-year-old was selected in four All-Australian teams (2014, 2015, 2017, 2018) in the past decade and won three consecutive John Cahill Medals (2014, 2015, 2016) as Port Adelaide’s best and fairest player in that period.
Gray didn’t disappoint on the big stage either, winning five Showdown Medals as best afield against Adelaide - including both accolades in season 2018 - as well as 25 touches and three goals in Port’s heart-breaking preliminary final loss in 2014.
The Oakleigh Chargers product averaged 21.3 disposals per game between 2010-19, racking up a career-high 39 disposals against Essendon in 2018, and 37 on three separate occasions.
Throughout the 2010’s, Gray polled 85 Brownlow votes - second only at Port Adelaide behind former skipper Travis Boak who received 111.
Gray was joined in the forward line of the ‘Team of the Decade’ by Hawthorn premiership pair Cyril Rioli and Jarryd Roughead, superstar Hawk and Swan Lance Franklin, Tiger and Giant Brett Deledio and AFL games record-holder Brent Harvey.
The star-studded line-up also included Brownlow medallists Dane Swan, Adam Goodes, Gary Ablett and Patrick Dangerfield.
