Power medicos will give big man Scott Lycett every chance to prove himself healthy to face the Suns after coming off injury in Port Adelaide's final Marsh Community Series match.

PORT ADELAIDE faces Gold Coast on Saturday evening in the opening game of its 2020 Toyota AFL Premiership Season campaign, with some interesting selection decisions to be made.

Young and exciting forward Mitch Georgiades could be in line for an AFL debut in his first season after impressing in the pre-season to date.

The Western Australian product played both Marsh Community Series games against Brisbane and the Western Bulldogs, and had an impact in the forward half against the Dogs, booting one goal in the Power’s 10-point win.

Ken Hinkley’s side will look to have a different midfield set-up for its clash with the Suns, with midfield bull Ollie Wines sidelined with a shoulder injury, which opens up an opportunity for both young and experienced on-ballers.

Brad Ebert missed a chunk of football in 2019, and when fit, played significant amounts of time forward, but he could be used as an in and under option if required in round 1.

Hinkley has flagged some positional changes in 2020, with Sam Powell-Pepper earmarked for a forward role, while the likes of Connor Rozee, Zak Butters and Kane Farrell all options to run through the middle.

Charlie Dixon and Scott Lycett were both injury casualties in Port’s Marsh 2 win against the Dogs in Whyalla, but will each be given every opportunity to be declared fit for the travelling squad to the Gold Coast.

Ruckman Peter Ladhams, midfielder Sam Mayes and forwards Tobin Cox and Dylan Williams, who each missed the win over the Bulldogs, will also be in the selection mix to face the Suns.

Port Adelaide will finalise its squad for Saturday evening’s season opener on Thursday afternoon.
