Exciting young forward Mitch Georgiades is set to make his AFL debut against the Gold Coast this Saturday.

PORT ADELAIDE has a debutant for its opening game of the 2020 Toyota AFL Premiership Season, with Mitch Georgiades named to play his first AFL game against Gold Coast.

Georgiades was selected at pick 18 in the 2019 NAB AFL National Draft, and has impressed everyone at Alberton since arriving in November.

The young and exciting forward played in both Marsh Community Series games, kicking a goal against the Western Bulldogs in the Power’s 10-point victory in Whyalla.

Ruckman Scott Lycett has also been named in the team despite coming off midway through the third quarter of Port Adelaide’s clash with the Bulldogs, but the news wasn’t as good for key forward Charlie Dixon, who hasn’t recovered from an adductor strain in time to take on the Suns.

Sam Powell-Pepper has been named on the half-forward flank, with Dan Houston assuming an on-ball role - flagged by senior coach Ken Hinkley throughout the pre-season.

Defender Trent McKenzie retains his spot from the final game of last season, while Todd Marshall will play the key forward role for the Power.

Kane Farrell, Peter Ladhams, Jarrod Lienert and Sam Mayes have been named as the emergencies for round 1.

Port Adelaide faces Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium on Saturday evening, with coverage of the game beginning from 6.30pm ACDT on Fox Sports 3 and 6.50pm ACDT on Channel 7.

A screening of the club’s 150th anniversary documentary Onward to Victory will be aired on Channel 7 at the completion of its clash with the Suns.
