ALL played well for the Magpies on Saturday afternoon as Port's SANFL hounded the Bulldogs all over the open park of Elizabeth Oval.
The Magpies held the fifth-placed Bulldogs to just 2.3 for the second half and coach Chad Cornes said a focus on maintaining a high workrate and a strong attack on the football led to his side notching up a 39-point win.
The win was the club's third for the weekend, following on from the Power's victory in the AFL and the Academy in the SANFL reserves.
Port won most statistics against Central including the possession count (413-295), tackles (53-4) and inside 50s (37-33).
Cornes said the strong tackling that helped the Power beat Richmond in the AFL less than 24 hours before was used as motivation for his side and they were urged to emulate it.
"We spoke pre-game that the Academy boys were doing it (tackling hard) and the way the AFL guys attacked the ball and the body prior and we wanted to bring that same effort," Cornes said.
"When you are dominating possession by that much, it is always a good sign.
"The boys used the ball really well, and just followed instructions which was good.
"In general, it was the old cliché, everyone was into it."
Jimmy Toumpas (39 disposals), Paul Stewart (38), Sam Gray and Sam Colquhoun (30 apiece), were prolific for the Magpies.
But it was John Butcher's display at full forward that garnered particular praise from Cornes.
Butcher slotted 6.2 in a dominant performance.
"He's had a lot of games similar, but today he finished them (the goals)," Cornes said.
"The supply was really good and I am really happy for Butch.
"He is doing a lot of work on it (goal kicking), constantly working at training every week, and today was one of the days where it paid off."
Port Adelaide is still three games out of the league's top tier, and Cornes is refusing to look too far ahead.
Instead, he demanded that same intensity for next week's clash with West Adelaide.
"We have spoken about small wins we can get in games,” Cornes said.
"Effort and energy is a choice, so that's what we are pushing."
Port Adelaide takes on West Adelaide at City Mazda Stadium on Saturday July 9.
