Trengove on long-term injury list
The Power can temporarily elevate a rookie-listed player after putting Jackson Trengove on the long-term injury list.
The move enables the club to temporarily elevate a rookie to its primary list if it decides to.
Trengove was placed on the long-term injury list on 19 February, prior to last weekend’s Round 1 NAB Cup match. Players on the long-term injury list must remain there for at least eight weeks, meaning the earliest Trengove can play is Round 4 of the home-and-away season.
Port Adelaide Football Operations Manager Peter Rohde says Trengove is progressing as expected when the club selected him with pick 22 in November’s NAB National Draft. Trengove tore his hamstring from the bone in the middle of last year, requiring long-term rehabilitation.
“Jackson has not had a set-back at all, but the plan has always been to bring him along to be ready to start playing in around May,” Rohde said.
“He is doing all the running and non-competitive work we would like of him, but he clearly will not be in a position to play for at least eight weeks, so we have placed him on the long-term injury list.”
The Power has five rookies – Wade Thompson, Danny Meyer, Daniel Stewart, Matthew Martin and Jesse Laurie.
