You can’t give a quality side a head start:
Collingwood kicked the opening seven goals against Port Adelaide on Friday night at Marvel Stadium in Round 7.
The Magpies headed into the first break with a 45-point advantage, and from that point it was always going to be difficult for Port to overcome the deficit.
The Power kicked five goals to one in the second term and outscored the Pies by six points after quarter time, but the damage was done with the home side running out 39-point winners.
Boak’s stellar start to 2019 continues:
Travis Boak made it six 30+ possession games from the opening seven rounds in Friday night’s loss to Collingwood.
Boak had 32 disposals (17 of them contested), six tackles, five clearances, three inside 50s and a goal to lead the way for the Power.
The former skipper is leading the AFL Fantasy competition and was sixth after six rounds in the Shadforth AFLCA Champion Player of the Year Award, highlighting his outstanding start to the season.
Burton and Houston distribute well off half-back:
On a night where Port were slightly off with their ball-use, Ryan Burton and Dan Houston were extremely efficient with their possessions.
Burton went at 94.7 per cent from his 19 disposals, while Houston went at 89.5 per cent from his 19 touches.
Former Hawk Burton has slotted in seamlessly to Port’s back six, averaging 22 touches and five marks a game, while Houston continues to get better and better.
