HAWTHORN’s Tom Mitchell continues to dominate the AFL fantasy scoring, again extending his lead at the top of the standings.
Mitchell scored a league-high 187 AFL fantasy points, remarkably 57.4 points higher than his season average which is already an extraordinary 129.4.
The Brownlow Medal fancy had 46 disposals and nine marks, to go with nine tackles and two goals.
Already the league’s most expensive player, he added a huge $42,000 to his value, taking it to a total of $896,000.
Mitchell last week became the first player to clock up 2000 total points this season, and the next best, Collingwood’s Brody Grundy, is still yet to reach that milestone, leaving Mitchell some 218 points ahead.
At Port Adelaide, there were five players who scored 100 points or more including Jasper Pittard, Ollie Wines, Tom Rockliff, Jared Polec and Robbie Gray.
Gray was best with 113, but Justin Westhoff is still the club’s highest scorer after scoring 90 points against Greater Western Sydney.
Justin Westhoff (mid/fwd - $673,000)
Port Adelaide’s most expensive player and highest scorer lost $8,000 in value for his efforts against the Giants after scoring 11.3 points below his season average.
He’s fallen to become the 14th ranked player in the competition after being ranked eleventh a fortnight ago but has still gained $88,000 in value since the start of the season.
The utility is one of just three Power players to feature in more than 30,000 teams and only Tom Rockliff is more popular than him.
Jared Polec (mid - $591,000)
Averaging 93.4 points this season, Polec has been extremely consistent all year and scored an above average 107 points against the Giants.
He had 29 touches, four marks, three free kicks for, and three tackles and demonstrated his usual run and carry
The 25-year-old is still cheap in relative terms at just $6,327 per point scored, more than $1,000 cheaper per point than Tom Rockliff.
Polec is the Power’s third highest scorer overall but he is one of the least popular in the team, appearing in just 2808 AFL fantasy teams.
Darcy Byrne-Jones (def - $514,000)
Averaging 78.8 points per game this season, the small defender had a mid-season resurgence before a suspension saw him miss a game.
Since returning he has averaged 85.7 points in three games and he scored a handy 84 against GWS in a tagging role on Lachie Whitfield.
Byrne-Jones had 19 disposals, six marks, and four tackles but despite outscoring his average he lost $3,000 from his overall value.
Since the start of the season, his price tag has jumped $53,000 making him a handy contributor for the 1917 fantasy coaches who have him in their squads.
Robbie Gray (mid - $489,000)
He’s so popular, with his name appearing in 32,606 AFL fantasy teams and it is easy to see why.
Gray costs less than $500,000 yet his cost per point scored is just $5614 – the cheapest of any Port player who has played more than five games.
Averaging 87.1 points per game, he scored 113 against the Giants.
He had 24 disposals, four marks, three free kicks for, six tackles and two goals.
Among those figures was a season-high 14 kicks.
Yet, somehow after all of that, Gray lost $3,000 in value making it an $83,000 loss since the start of the season.
If he has a late-season burst as he did earlier this year he would make a handy inclusion for any AFL fantasy coach.
