Lilly Brown might only be five years old, but she has already achieved something women five times her age can only dream of.

In 2015, Lilly was an NAB AFL Auskicker of the Year nominee and had the opportunity to play on the MCG during the grand final.

And now with the announcement of a national female league, the SA leg of the AFL’s talent search is giving more women the opportunity to follow in Lilly’s footsteps.

Women aged 15 and over were put through their paces with fitness and skills testing, and despite being a few years away from trying out herself, Lilly went out to check out the talent on offer.

Lilly warmed our hearts last year when she proposed to Jarman Impey, but he might have some competition after Lilly met another one of her heroes at the trials.

Donning the No. 8, Lilly had a kick with Daisy Pearce, the AFL female football talent coordinator and captain of the Melbourne Demons female team, before testing herself in the 20-metre sprint.

As an Auskicker, Lilly is at the very beginning of her football journey, and Port Adelaide is committed to creating more pathways for women to play football.

This year the club will establish a female football academy, field teams in the South Australian Women’s Football League, and host the states Under-18 women’s program at Alberton.
