GARRY HOCKING reviews the form of his Magpies in the SANFL win over South Adelaide last week.
Peter Jackson Player of the Week
Steven Summerton
Continues to maintain great consistency of performance and leadership. Worked really hard on the inside of the contest as well as using the ball well in general play.
Player Reviews
Tom Gray
Low possession game but again shows great compliance around our structures.
Dougal Howard
Settling into a new position and is doing a good job for us. Knows when to impact the contest and challenge his opponent.
Tom Logan
Very strong performance again and continues to not allow his opponent too many chances to get into the game.
Sid Masters
Sid is starting to show good signs with his positioning on his opponent and his aggressiveness in the contest. Used the ball well when he was under pressure.
Sam Russell
Started really well and was creative around the footy. Rooster is learning a new role and will be given every opportunity to excel in it.
Aaron Young
Was getting involved in every contest and then hurt himself, which lessened his opportunities to be really strong at the footy.
Karl Amon
Had a tough day but continued to stay in the game and the contest. Finished the game with three goals and showed his class while setting up a couple of others as well.
Ben Sawford
Not as dominant around the ball this week, but it was due to others having a few more opportunities inside and Sawf was forced to play more of a team role for us.
Paul Stewart
Played more as a forward this week and hit the scoreboard with some smart inside-50 plays.
Tom Clurey
Tom battled hard against a top forward in Eddy. Once again, his second half was probably bette,r as he gave no room or space to his opponent.
Andrew Moore
Went into the game with some soreness but to his credit he showed great grit and determination to get through the four quarters. Moorey was tough inside and had good impact on the scoreboard.
Louis Sharrad
Really like what Louie brings to the team weekly. He thinks 'team first' and is always prepared to crack in at the footy and create a genuine contest for us.
Billy Frampton
Was a little down in this game, I felt he got caught out a bit with being either too high up or too deep at times and his direct opponent having too much impact.
Jesse Palmer
Jesse was quiet in the first half but then found some footy in the second half of the game. The harder he works, the more he puts himself in a position to get more of the ball.
Sam Colquhoun
Sam was very good over four quarters especially after half time when he used the ball well and went more through the midfield for us.
Matthew Lobbe
Had a fascinating battle with our former rookie Daniel Bass. Won the hit outs by a small margin and was forced to really compete hard across four quarters.
Darcy Byrne-Jones
Exactly as I wrote last week, Darcy must pack aggression in his bag going into the next few games. He has shown in the past that he can be really aggressive and challenge his opponent when we get into offence.
Jack Haarsma
Very solid performance again around stoppage and through our forward line. Would like him to hit the scoreboard and reward himself off strong defensive pressure.
Mason Shaw
Back into the team after missing a game due to injury. Played his role in the team well and just needs to take his opportunities when they come.
Jarred Redden
Back from injury, and just got back into bringing a contest around the ball and competing hard when forward. Good energy across four quarters and needs to see that this is the level expected each week.
