KEN HINKLEY expects Matthew Lobbe to maintain sole ruck duties when Port Adelaide plays the GWS Giants at Skoda Stadium this weekend.

Jarrad Redden is unlikely to be cleared to play the Giants after injuring his shoulder against the Western Bulldogs two weeks ago and with Brent Renouf still requiring at least another week in the SANFL, Lobbe is shaping as the man likely to be charged with winning the taps for most of Sunday's match.

"I doubt that Redden will be able to play and Renouf needs another game so that will almost force our decision," said Hinkley of Lobbe's expected selection tonight.

"'Lobbes' is probably going to play in the ruck and be the sole ruckman."

Lobbe was a travelling emergency against the Bulldogs after recovering from a rolled ankle.

His form playing for West Adelaide in the SANFL last Saturday was strong - leading the hit outs over Renouf and the secondary ruckmen for both the Bloods and Redlegs.

He also had 17 possessions in a good performance for a losing side.

Hinkley says Lobbe will need support on Sunday though.

He anticipates utilising tall forwards Justin Westhoff and John Butcher as secondary ruckmen throughout the game.

"We're going to need to support him (Lobbe) and Westhoff is the obvious one to go through there (the ruck rotations)," said Hinkley.

"Butcher can go through as well, we've seen him play in the Magpies in the ruck for a few moments in games so he's another one who can go in.

"That's probably the way we'll end up going."

portadelaidefc.com.au will release Sunday's extended squad first at 5:55pm (CST) on Thursday night, before unveiling the final team of 22 players on Friday afternoon.
