Primus said his players needed to find the confidence within themselves to be able to close out matches like this.

"AFL is pretty tough and it is hard to get four points, but to get it you have to play three and a half quarters of good football and we have not done that yet this year," he said.

"They know they are capable of doing it, they just have not been able to do it yet."

However, Primus said throwing the towel in on the season was not an option.

"It is up to every individual to show pride in their club," he said.

"We just have to knuckle down; there is another game around the corner."

Forward Jay Schulz provided some positive points with his bag of seven goals, which included four in the third quarter.

Schulz missed five matches with a knee injury but Primus said his presence in the Power forward line was invaluable.

"He is a really good leader around the club, he stood up for us and it was a really good performance from him," Primus said.

The Power coach also heaped praise on Jackson Trengove, who is out of contract at the end of the year.

"I thought Jackson's game was pretty good (on Lions captain Jonathan Brown), Jackson has played 25 games and Brown has played 250-odd so it was a great step in Jackson's career," Primus said.

"We would love Jackson to be here (next year), today just enforced how important we think he is and he is certainly aware of that."

Primus said the club was confident of re-signing Trengove.
