PORT ADELAIDE has made two changes ahead of its season restart in Showdown XLVIII at Adelaide Oval this Saturday night.
Man mountain Charlie Dixon take his place in the forward 50 wearing the iconic Prison Bar jumper after fully recovering from the adductor issue that kept him out of round 1.
Riley Bonner also comes into the side after being a late omission on the Gold Coast.
High-flying youngster Mitch Georgiades (calf) and Jarrod Lienert (omitted) have made way for the changes.
Scott Lycett and Xavier Duursma have been cleared to play after passing fitness tests during the week, while Showdown specialist Robbie Gray has been named in a forward pocket after recovering from a broken toe.
They say a week is a long time in football, but Ken Hinkley and his charges have had much longer to debate ins and outs – 82 days to be precise.
The extended break has been a blessing for some. Along with the aforementioned Dixon and Bonner, Hamish Hartlett (quad) and Brad Ebert (knee) will line up against the Crows after seeming destined to miss multiple games due to injuries suffered against the Suns.
However, Port will be without the services of vice-captain Ollie Wines who must serve a one-game suspension for breaching COVID-19 protocols after conducting a media interview outside his home.
Though the midfield bull remains eligible for selection in the scratch match prior to the main game at Adelaide Oval.
Nearly Port Adelaide’s entire playing list will see the field on Saturday, with only Tobin Cox (quad), Willem Drew (foot), Georgiades and Trent Burgoyne, who picked up a foot infection late in the week, deemed unfit to play.
Kane Farrelll, Sam Mayes, Peter Ladhams and Lienert have been named as the emergencies for round 1.
Port Adelaide faces Adelaide at Adelaide Oval on Saturday evening, white coverage of the game beginning from 7.00pm ACST on Channel 7 and 7.10pm on Fox Footy.
