Zak Butters showed off some fancy footwork to earn his Goal of the Week nomination in Showdown XLVIII.

PORT ADELAIDE forward Zak Butters has been nominated for the 2020 Coates Hire AFL Goal of the Year for his soccered effort during the second quarter of Saturday night’s Showdown 48 win.

The teenager ran onto a bouncing ball inside 50 and hacked the ball out of the air from about 25 metres out to nail a memorable goal.

It was a perfect example of Butters’ instinct around goal, and the joy in his celebration showed how much he enjoyed it.

He finished the game with 21 disposals, seven marks and three clearances to go with his goal as Port Adelaide ran out 75-point winners.

The other Round 2 nominees for Goal of the Year are Essendon’s Devon Smith and North Melbourne’s Tarryn Thomas.

To cast your vote and be in the running for a $10,000 cash prize, go to goaloftheyear.afl or Google search 'AFL Vote'.

Fellow Port Adelaide forward Steven Motlop also received a nomination for Mark of the Year.
