Peter Jackson Player of the Week
Karl AmonReally pleased with Karl’s performance this week. Played his role very well and was able to have a major impact on the scoreboard with four goals in the first half. Used the ball particularly well and showed he can tackle and harass the opposition when not in possession.
Player reviews
Mitch HarveyFound it tough at times to impact forward and in the ruck. Our turnovers hurt him a bit when he was working into good positions, but we did not get the ball to him. It's a great week to have the bye and for him to freshen up.
Steven Summerton
Was tagged in his 150th but still managed to influence around the ground and at stoppages. His 11 possessions in the third quarter were very productive and kept us in the game, but we couldn't get over the line for him in his milestone match.
Angus Bruggemann
Struggled a little this week. He was not able to give us the first look at the ball around the stoppages, but he still gives his all and will get better with more time in the ruck.
Tom Clurey
A solid performance on Alex Barns but I would’ve liked to have seen Tommy use the ball a little better coming out of defence. He got his positioning right and was aggressive in the marking contests he just needs to finish off his work.
John Butcher
John only got going in the third quarter but quickly after that we lost Flynny and I threw Butcher into defence to take Obst and he was OK in that role. He finished the day with two goals but several poor turnovers up the field limited his supply.
Anthony Biemans
A solid performance by Biemer this week down back. He played tough, accountable footy and used the ball well coming out of defence.
Nathan Krakouer
A little play up forward and down back for Nathan this week. He had two shots on goal while forward and he just needs to finish off his work in front of goals. I liked his defensive play this week - he was more accountable and rebounded the ball with composure.
Jake Neade
Very lively across three quarters, Jake challenged the opposition with his speed and ran and carried the ball with some damage. Good forward pressure where he chased and hunted North on their rebound as well.
Henry Slattery
Henry played an important role for us around stoppages, he was able to win some contested and uncontested possession around the ground. He didn't set the world on fire in his second game back, but he did provide us with some toughness around the contest.
Darcy Byrne-Jones
Had a difficult matchup in Ryswyk who was able to get some space at times and make life difficult for Darcy. By playing on the best small opponents every week, he'll be challenged to play well. Showed some real class and dash rebounding from defensive 50 and continues to impress.
Ben Newton
Newts had a solid game in and around the stoppages. He was tagged at times and this is good for his development. As always he never complains and just finds ways in games to get better. Capped off his performance with two classy goals where he burst out of traffic and took the game on.
Brendon Ah Chee
A bit below his benchmark this season, but he continued to work hard over the four quarters. Took one nice grab up forward and converted that opportunity, but he needs to do more in games. We would like to see 'Arch' run and carry the footy, and use his big body in and around the stoppages more.
Lewis Stevenson
It was a better performance this week and he looked to be in the game early. Would like to see him be a bit more aggressive in his body use, spoiling at contests and using that big kicking weapon coming out of defence.
Mason Shaw
Like the other two big forwards, Mason found it difficult at times to get into the game because of our poor turnovers through the midfield. He did get up the ground at times to present and provide a target, but bad kicking and decision-making cost him opportunities.
Sam Russell
I really thought he played well and looked really composed back in defence. If he continues to put in those performances he'll be with us for a while. He was very accountable against his direct opponent and found the confidence to get off his man and win some footy.
Robbie Young
Did not have the impact like he did in the Sturt game. I like the fact that he still values team defence and looks to chase and tackle when not in possession. Has had a big year and the week off will help him recover a little.
Andrew Moore
A solid game from Andrew considering he has missed some game time through injury. Was a little rusty at times with his possession and stoppage work but he has worked hard at training to get his game going.
Daniel Flynn
Was OK on his direct opponent Obst early in the game, he did look to use his speed to attack the game, but unfortunately he rolled his ankle and could not give us anything after half time.
Jake Johansen
Had a very good carnival with the State under-18s and came back to us to play his first League game for the year. He was very good for us, winning plenty of the ball and also winning it in tight at stoppages. He just needs to finish off his work and hurt the opposition with elite kicking.
Paul Stewart
Very good game and stiff not to be our Peter Jackson Player of the Week with a whopping 33 disposals and 11 marks. He worked really hard throughout the game with good balance in possession in defence pushing back to help out. He has missed some game time recently through injury but he came back and played at AFL intensity.
