The traditional rivalry between the two clubs is sure to make this a close battle in the penultimate game of the minor round.
In a press conference on Friday, Port Adelaide’s SANFL senior coach Garry Hocking said his team was looking forward to the opportunity to play the in-form Redlegs.
“One-v-two: it’s going to be a really tough match,” Hocking said.
“[Having] players out has affected our form, but the team is nearly back to full strength, like it was at the beginning of the year.
“Norwood average six goals in their first quarters, so we definitely won’t give them that start.”
Port Adelaide will welcome leading goal kicker John Butcher and potentially hard-running midfielders Kane Mitchell and Aaron Young into the team.
They'll need their best side and a well-rounded performance on Sunday, with the Redlegs having won their last three games.
For Norwood, it is an important clash to make sure they finish in the top three.
“It’s the difference between second and fifth,” said Redlegs coach Ben Warren.
“It’s going to be tough playing eighteen AFL-listed players but I think our club is good enough.”
The Magpies have had an impressive season winning 11 of 16 rounds so far.
But they lost to the Redlegs by 19 points in the opening round this year and need to win this weekend to tie up top spot, while Norwood could take that position away with a big win against Port this weekend and another sizeable victory against the Crows in Round 18.
The Power Megastore is offering a free double pass to Sunday's game for every 2014 Magpies media polo or soft shell jacket purchased.
