SENIOR defender Jackson Trengove will miss at least four weeks of full training after jarring his knee in a training exercise on Tuesday.

Despite initial fears the damage was more serious, the Power's defensive assistant coach Matthew Nicks confirmed to portadelaidefc.com.au Trengove had only suffered bruising to the bone.

"It did look quite bad when he jarred the knee, so frankly it's a relief that scans have shown he's only got bone bruising," Nicks said.

"Jackson's injury will be managed on a day-to-day basis and we're hoping he can resume full training within a few weeks.

"It's an injury that can heal quickly in the right circumstances so we're hopeful he'll play sooner rather than later.

"He's a very important part of our defensive unit and a real general back there, so we'll obviously be keen to get him back as soon as we can."

The Power has enjoyed a stable pre-season so far, with a number of players improving their times in the club's first time trial of the summer before training through the intense heat of Adelaide's recent heatwave.

Nicks will address media at a press conference at Alberton later on Tuesday.
