ANZAC Day is commemorated on April 25 to mark the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War.

The Australian and New Zealand Army Corps - or ANZACs - landed at Gallipoli on Sunday 25 April 1915 where they were met with heavy resistance from Ottoman Turkish forces fighting as part of the Central Powers.
Many Australian and New Zealand soldiers died in the failed Gallipoli campaign, and in subsequent conflicts, which is why the ANZAC Appeal raises funds to support former and serving members of the Australian defence forces, their allies and dependents when in need.
The Returned and Services League SA Branch will be at the Power’s ANZAC Round game against the Cats at the Adelaide Oval on Sunday 27 April and the club is encouraging all patrons at the ground to give generously to RSL volunteers collecting for the ANZAC Appeal.
Part of this year's ANZAC Appeal allows Australians to call 1902 25 04 17 (in SA and NT)* and listen to a minute of silence before making a donation.
Money raised will help provide support to defence service men and women and their families in many ways, including providing support for medical and hospital expenses, mobile aids, household repairs and maintenance, grocery shopping and household bills.
