THE sun is unlikely to shine at Metricon Stadium on Saturday with rain forecast for Port Adelaide's clash with Gold Coast at 2:10pm.

The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting a top of 19 degrees for Nerang and  up to 40 millimetres of rainfall in the afternoon and evening.

It's also likely to be a windy one at the open-ended venue, with winds between 15 and 35 km/h throughout the course of the afternoon.

Although Port Adelaide has lost three of rain-affected games it's played in this year - all at the Adelaide Oval against the Crows, Essendon and Sydney Swans - it did defeat the GWS Giants in the rain at StarTrack Oval in Round 7.

It also has an unblemished record at Metricon Stadium, having won both its encounters against the Suns there in 2012 and 2013.
