PORT Adelaide travels east to Canberra to face the Giants at Startrack Oval on Saturday.

portadelaidefc.com.au examines who is in the mix for selection for both the Power and the Giants ahead of the Round 7 game.

Port Adelaide
Ken Hinkley has confirmed Angus Monfries is available to play this week, having recovered from a hamstring injury. Hinkley said Monfries will play GWS this week unless something goes wrong before Saturday.

Ben Newton is also banging down the door to make his AFL debut with another excellent performance in the SANFL with 31 disposals, 12 marks, 7 clearances, 6 inside 50s and 3 goals.

Kane Mitchell, Tom Logan and Andrew Moore were also impressive, but it seems they are behind Newton in line, based on current form.

The big question becomes who drops out of the team.

With three wins in a row, it’ll be a tough challenge for Ken Hinkley and the coaches to decide the final team.

GWS

The Giants have all but confirmed Jeremy Cameron will be fit to play in Canberra on Saturday.

The 2013 All-Australian suffered a perforated eardrum following a head clash, but is expected to play against the Power.

gwsgiants.com.au also reports that midfielders Lachie Whitfield, Rhys Palmer and Josh Kelly have all overcome injuries and are available for selection.

Midfielder Mark Whiley was best on ground for the UWS Giants in the NEAFL with 39 disposals and 3 goals and will be pushing to add to his 10 AFL games. Dylan Shiel also made a return from a quad injury kicking two goals, but it’s unclear whether he’ll be rushed straight back into the AFL side.

AFL.com.au’s James Dampney reports that Nathan Wilson, Stephen Gilham, Cam McCarthy and Jake Barrett are also pushing for selection while Zac Williams, Tom Bugg and Lachie Plowman were all quiet against the Suns and could find themselves under pressure to hold their spot.
