Peter Jackson Player of the Week
Jake NeadeJake put in another really strong performance against South. He puts pressure on the forwards playing in the AFL side every game. He didn't have massive possession numbers, but he continues to have shots on goal from tackling, chasing and pressuring the opposition.
Player reviews
Mitch HarveyMitch has had some inconsistency over the past month in his performances and this is part and parcel of a young player in his first year on an AFL list. It is important for Mitch to finish off the year strongly and keep improving and developing his forward and ruck craft.
Steven Summerton
Not his usual best although he did have Murphy follow him around for most of the day. He must work harder and smarter when this happens and he will learn to play different roles for us going forward.
Angus Bruggemann
Supported the defence this week with little time in the ruck. Continues to influence in the air and work hard in games.
Ben Haren
Started down back in this match and helped out in the ruck, not his best performance and there is still room for improvement.
Tom Logan
Continues to offer a strong contest and sound leadership in games for us. He went on-ball in the last quarter to get us going and did very well.
Anthony Biemans
Another really solid performance from Biemer over four quarters He played in a few different positions and we really like his flexibility as a player. We can throw him around a bit.
Daniel Flynn
Is developing really well and had a great contest with the League's leading goal kicker in Eddy, won a few of his battles and was allowed more responsibility without other key backs in the side this week.
Sam Gray
The most impressive part to his game was not so much that he won more of the footy, but his attitude to tackling and pressuring the opposition when he or the team was not in possession.
Nathan Krakouer
Quite a consistent performance by Krak this week. He was under pressure early against some good South play, but as the game wore on he became really good with his ability to move the ball quickly and compete hard when the ball was up for grabs.
Brendon Ah Chee
Arch has had consistent form over the past month and he was again solid on the weekend. He worked hard around the stoppages and needs to do this across four quarters.
Robbie Young
I really like when Robbie attacks the game and tries to take the opposition on with run and carry. The other thing I like about him, and I’ve seen him develop this area over the year, is his ability now to crash in at times and put his body on the line to win the contested ball.
Danny Butcher
Danny worked really hard in the game and just needs to hurt the opposition with his execution, we love the fact he can play tough and win his own footy. He just has to take more care with the ball when he gets it.
Louis Sharrad
Battled hard all day and it was a good effort considering he has missed a big chunk of the year through injury.
Zac Hawkins
Well a very big day for Zac, he was best for the Academy team earlier in the morning and then had to come in late to our League side due to a injury in the warm up. I thought he got involved and did some good things with the ball. He would’ve slept well that night I’m sure.
Sam Gordon
Good effort first up in his debut game for the Magpies, was very lively up and around the forward 50. Gave us a real target to kick to and worked hard at ground level.
Mason Shaw
In and out of the game, he must present more for us and really demand that we kick the ball to him when we are going forward. Has played some other positions lately to find out about his game and flexibility.
Henry Slattery
Slatts worked exceptionally hard for us throughout the match, we love the fact he can play many roles for us as well as offer outstanding leadership and direction for our younger players.
Lewis Stevenson
I thought at times early in the match he won some good footy. To then make a couple of kicking errors looked to hurt his confidence. We need him to use his weapons, run and carry, and rebound strongly from defence. We saw this in the last quarter but we need it consistently over four.
Sam Russell
Continues to develop and look solid in a defensive role. Worked hard to beat his man and then found some opportunities to win the footy and generally made good decisions under pressure.
Ben Sawford
Played through the middle and forward at times but like many of his teammates did find it tough going to defend, win possession and have an impact offensively.
