Power cruises to victory over Cats
Port Adelaide has easily accounted for competition heavyweight Geelong with a commanding 84-point win at AAMI Stadium on Friday night
Rodan notched up 19 possessions and a game-high six clearances in his comeback game from a second LARS knee reconstruction.
The dashing onballer's return coincided with the news Sydney Swans defender Nick Malceski would also require a second LARS reconstruction, after re-injuring his knee at training.
Rodan's return was only overshadowed by the performance of teammate Travis Boak, who finished with 28 possessions and two goals.
Port Adelaide started slowly against the Cats, but the home side got going in the second term, kicking six goals to the visitors' one to establish a 40-point lead at the main break.
The second half was little more than a training run for the Power, who ran out comfortable 19.21 (135) to 7.9 (51) winners.
Port utility Daniel Stewart followed on from last weekend's impressive game in the ruck with three goals, while Danyle Pearce, Steven Salopek, Matthew Broadbent and Boak each finished with two goals.
Salopek, Hamish Hartlett, Dean Brogan and Jay Schulz all got through their first games of the pre-season unscathed and rookie-listed onballer Jarrad Irons enhanced his chances of a round-one debut with another strong performance.
Coach Matthew Primus said his side could take plenty of positives out of the game, despite the relative inexperience of the opposition.
"We got game time into a lot of players, which was important and we got to trial three on the bench in the first half to see how we got around that and how we need to structure up," Primus said.
"We got to see how we wanted to play a little bit. We were able to get our contested ball well up, especially in the first half and also a little bit of our ball movement when the game was up and every one was pretty fresh."
Port Adelaide will now prepare to take on Greater Western Sydney in the last round of the NAB Challenge, while Geelong expects to welcome back stars Paul Chapman, Joel Corey, Cam Mooney and Jimmy Bartel for its clash with Carlton at Visy Park.
