FIVE players have been included in Port Adelaide’s extended squad to face the GWS Giants at Skoda Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Matthew Lobbe is the only ruckman named in the side as a replacement for Jarrad Redden and will be confirmed in the club’s final 22 on Friday.

“'Lobbes' will come back into the side because Reddo’s not ready to play this week,” senior coach Ken Hinkley told portadelaidefc.com.au.

“He and Renouf rucked against each other in the SANFL last week and Lobbe was just physically better prepared for now.”

Tough inside midfielders Matt Thomas and Andrew Moore have also been named in the side.

Thomas was overlooked in selection against the Western Bulldogs a fortnight ago due to an injury concern but has recovered to be named in the 25-man squad this week.

Moore has been the club’s SANFL Player of the Week for two consecutive rounds with good form for North Adelaide in the local competition.

“Whether they both make it through to the side will be decided tomorrow,” said Hinkley.

“If we pick them both we might have two too many of their type - certainly both can provide us with similar sorts of things.

“Matty had a really good game against Geelong, missed the Bulldogs due to injury and we felt we missed him in the team.

“And sometimes you can’t do any more than be in good form at the SANFL and that’s what Moorey’s been doing to push into this squad.”

Utility Paul Stewart has been recalled to the squad, while defender Nathan Blee - also in good form for North in the SANFL - is the fifth man named.

Defender Campbell Heath has been omitted from the team while Jarrad Redden has been unable to recover from his shoulder injury.

“We hadn’t been having great starts but we think we turned that around against the Bulldogs," said Hinkley of this weekend's game.

"We had a good first quarter against the Bulldogs last week, we’ll work hard to do it again against GWS this week and look to build on our second, third and fourth quarters from there."
