All played well

It was an old-fashioned, gutsy performance from Port Adelaide on Saturday and multiple contributors in the black, white and teal enabled its significant win over Collingwood.

In essence, all played well.

The games of midfielders Matthew Broadbent, Matthew Lobbe, Oliver Wines and Andrew Moore were all strong and combined with the regular solid efforts of the club's senior players against one of the competition's strongest sides.

Broadbent continued his recent run of form with a massive 34 touches in a blitzing midfield effort.

He was supported by Brad Ebert who again performed with 21 effective touches, nine marks and six tackles.

Key forwards Jay Schulz and Justin Westhoff combined for the first time in many weeks to deliver three goals apiece to the Power’s final score.

A characteristic of the club’s five early-season wins was its spread of goal kickers during the game and it was again a feature on Saturday.

The Power had four multiple goal kickers and seven in total.

And it was the likes of Ollie Wines, who had 16 disposals in the final quarter after starting the game as the substitute, and Matthew Lobbe who again performed as the sole ruckman, who provided critical support to the Power's seasoned regulars.

Andrew Moore also solidified his position in the starting 22 with another solid performance as a big-bodied midfielder.

Port’s opportunities to impact the scoreboard were also significant.

It had 16 more inside-50s than Collingwood and five more scoring shots.

Essentially a continuation of its good performance against Sydney the week prior, Port Adelaide’s win over Collingwood has positioned the team well in the approach to tough fixtures against Essendon and Hawthorn.

The previous two efforts exhibited by the Power will be essential against these two competition leaders.
