End Game

Senior coach Ken Hinkley described it as Port Adelaide’s “most disappointing” loss for the year and the stats sheet backs that sentiment up.

Richmond’s class and pressure in Saturday's match backed up its stats dominance in almost every aspect.

Although the Power won clearances, the team’s ball usage was poor all day.

At an average disposal efficiency of 69.74%, compared to Richmond’s 79.4%, the home side was always going to struggle to gain the ascendency with a turnover-laden performance the upshot of the day.

The Tigers kicked the ball almost 100 times more often for 73 more marks and handballed 38 times less.

Such control is hard to compete with when your own usage is poor.

There were few shining lights for the Power, but some could hold their head high.

Robbie Gray was involved around the ground - particularly early - and scored one of the Power’s few goals of the first half, while Travis Boak was lively around stoppages.

Jay Schulz’s three goals were critical to keeping Port’s final score line respectable.

Port’s slow starts have been maligned so far this year, but Hinkley emphasised Richmond's skill on the day as a factor in Port's loss - the Tigers's numbers certainly indicate that.
