His AFL-imposed ban served, Tippett was confirmed to start by Swans coach John Longmire at a press conference in Sydney today.
"We confirmed with Kurt this morning that he's going to play this week," said Longmire.
"We expect Kurt to play a fair bit of the game but he won't be playing all of the game.
"We need to make sure we manage his workload throughout the course of the game, hopefully he can do that and we get through unscathed."
Tippett has undertaken a personalised training program during his playing ban.
According to sydneyswans.com.au, that program has included repeat sprint sessions and match-simulation drills under the Swans' head conditioning coach.
The 26-year-old says he is looking forward to playing his first game at AAMI Stadium.
"It's been a challenging period and I'm really excited to play my first game for the Sydney Swans," said Tippett.
“I’ve been training for a fair while now and it’s been a consistent build up and I think it’s been something that has gone really well and I’m happy with my preparations and the next step is to play.
“I had a training program written out for me and it was building up to this day, so it’s all gone to plan."
