Blockbuster city
The city is set to rock with Port Adelaide set to host a number of blockbusters at Adelaide Oval in 2014.
An ANZAC Round clash with Geelong, back-to-back home games against the 2013 Grand Finalists, a rematch of the 2004 Grand Final – 10 years on – and a Saturday night clash against Buddy, Tippett and the Swans.
All of those games make an 11-game reserved seat package great value, but the three blockbusters below are worth the price of Membership alone.
Round 2 – Port Adelaide v Adelaide
Saturday 29 March, 4.10pm @ Adelaide Oval
This game is certain to sell-out. In fact, such will be the demand for the first game at Adelaide Oval in 2014, the game could probably sell-out twice over! And the ONLY way to guarantee a seat at this historic game is with an 11-game Membership (which starts at just $200!).
The Showdown rivalry has reignited in the past few years with a few epic battles between the two South Australian sides.
An amazing 31-point comeback win over the Crows in Round 3 was incredibly outdone in Showdown XXXV with Port Adelaide snatching victory in the dying minutes with an unbelievable Angus Monfries off-break goal followed by Chad Wingard’s game-winning mark and goal.
Re-live Showdown XXXV
The first Showdown in 2014 is going to have some added spice, with both teams wanting to stamp their authority on the redeveloped Adelaide Oval. 148 days to go!

Round 16 – Port Adelaide v Essendon
Saturday 5 July, 7.10pm @ Adelaide Oval
If 2013 is anything to go by, the Power and the Bombers will be around the mark again in 2014, making this Round 16 clash a beauty.
After a run of six straight wins over the Bombers between 2005-2010, the Power has lost the past four encounters – all entertaining, high-scoring affairs. On the back of the second Showdown and the week before a trip to Etihad to face Richmond, this clash and the month of football around it is likely to be vital to the Power’s season.
Expect the Bombers to bring a big crowd with them, too. The Saturday night time slot is perfect for travelling fans and Adelaide Oval is going to be a big drawcard for opposition supporters.
Round 22 – Port Adelaide v Carlton
Friday 22 August, 7.20pm @ Adelaide Oval
This blockbuster is tantalising. A Friday night, two weeks out from Finals, against a team which finished one spot below the Power on the ladder. It doesn’t get much better than this.
Port and Carlton played out a classic in Round 23, 2013 in front of a sell-out crowd of 45,127 in the final game at Football Park and this game has all the makings of another sell-out classic. The Blues are the most well-supported Victorian club in SA and always draw a big crowd and Adelaide Oval will be no different.
Judd, Murphy, Gibbs and co coming to town with everything on the line, you don’t want to miss this.
