AARON Young has been transferred from North Adelaide to Port Adelaide’s SANFL side.

General Manager – Football Operations Peter Rohde said the request was following North’s decision to play Young in the reserves in Round 2.

“Given Young was an emergency for our Round 1 AFL side, we were disappointed he was named in the reserves for North,” Rohde said.

“It’s important for us that he is given plenty of opportunities at league level, and we feel he’ll be given those opportunities at the Magpies.

“The decision is in the best interests of his long term development as we need him playing league football to give him the best opportunity to succeed at AFL level.”

Young played 12 games in 2012 after making his debut in Round 5 of that year against Adelaide and was named as an emergency for the Power in Round 1 against Melbourne.

Young collected 41 possessions and kicked three goals in the reserves for North Adelaide in Round 2.
