End Game
Remarkably, Port only won two of our statistical indicators in Number Crunch.
The first was marks – narrowly – with one more than the Saints.
The second was rebound 50s, which considering St Kilda’s slight advantage in terms of marks inside 50, you would hope a good rebounding defensive line would be able to accomplish.
It wasn’t a pretty win and Port fell behind in the numbers after half time as St Kilda proceed to complete a 49-point turnaround.
But in many ways it spoke volumes of Port’s late-game ability to hold strong and see out the match with some impressive defensive marking from Justin Westhoff.
Matthew Lobbe was one of the Power’s best players with a blitzing first half effort in the ruck.
At one stage, he was en route to eclipse the NAB AFL Fantasy score of Gary Ablett, even after the Suns captain’s 49-possession game earlier in the round.
Check out our new infographic highlighting Matthew Lobbe’s impact below.
