The Gold Coast Suns captain Gary Ablett has declared he will play against Port Adelaide this Saturday night at Metricon Stadium according to afl.com.au.

Ablett declared his fitness amid fears of a hand injury, with some prolonged swelling and soreness resulting from last weekend’s tough loss against Brisbane.

Despite his certainty, he admits he can't yet clench a fist.

"I've got to get through training Wednesday night but the hand's not feeling too bad," he said.

"I can't really clench it yet but I'm sure it'll be fine for the weekend."

Although cleared of any broken bones in his hand, the star has had MRI scans in an attempt to discover the root of the discomfort and swelling and is regarded an outside chance to miss this weekend’s game.

Another possible casualty from last week’s Q Clash was key position player Charlie Dixon who injured his Achilles tendon during the game and was subbed off.

He is expected to miss this weekend’s clash between Port Adelaide and the Suns at Metricon Stadium on the Gold Coast.
