A DISAPPOINTING performance by Port Adelaide has seen it go down to Fremantle by 74 points at Paterson Stadium on Saturday night.

It was a tough night for the Power with the visitors kept to just one goal in the first half.

Things started poorly for Port and got progressively worse, with Hayden Ballantyne and Michael Walters kicking the first four of the game for Fremantle before Port could manage one of its own through Jake Neade.

That was the highlight of the half for Port Adelaide fans, Neade’s curling ground ball an early goal of the week candidate.

The strong-bodied Dockers were better with the ball and pressured the Power into crucial turnovers throughout the night.

Port wasn't without opportunities though, having only slightly fewer inside 50s than the Dockers by the close of play.

But its regular turnovers and poor disposal efficiency saw its concede multiple goals.

The Power never looked capable of keeping pace against a hard-running Fremantle outfit.

As it has done all year though, the Power was able to claw back some respectability late in the game.

Angus Monfries, Kane Mitchell, Aaron Young, Robbie Gray and Andrew Moore all slotted majors to bring the Power's tally to nine for the night.

Carlton's concurrent loss to Essendon at the MCG ensures Port Adelaide's place in the 2013 AFL Finals Series.

Port Adelaide returns to Adelaide on Sunday ahead of its final home-and-away match against Carlton on Saturday 31 August at 4:10pm.
