Hocking was confirmed as Port Adelaide’s 38th coach in South Australian football in September and will lead a restructured SANFL football program at Alberton in 2014.
That program will see overflow players from the club’s AFL team play for the Magpies League side, in addition to members of a 15-player senior pool drawn from members of the Academy program.

2013 Magpies Sam Gray and Aseri Raikiwasa have already been confirmed in that pool, with several others to be announced shortly.
Port Adelaide’s senior AFL coach Ken Hinkley spoke to the assembled contingent of hopefuls before the start of pre-season training on Monday night, saying the club’s new Elite Football Academy – formally launched on Tuesday night – will give them the best possible chance at securing an AFL career.
“We want to give you every opportunity to understand if you’ve still got your dream, you’re still chasing it and you still want to pursue the best competition in the land, that the AFL’s where you want to get to,” Hinkley told the assembled group.
“For some of you it might not be what you want, it might just be a love of the football club, and we’re the same – We’re Port Adelaide.
“We’re Port Adelaide Power in the AFL and Port Adelaide Magpies in the SANFL and we really respect that.”
The Elite Football Academy will contain the club’s Academy (playing in the SANFL Reserves competition), and Under-18 and Under-16 sides in 2014 only.
From 2015 the club’s underage programs will be restructured as part of the agreement entered into with the SANFL in September.
