Cornes was charged with a Level Three rough contact offence for his part in an incident involving Hawthorn’s Sam Mitchell on Saturday (watch above).
The charge was assessed as intentional conduct, body contact and low impact.
The offence carries 225 demerit points and a two-game suspension, downgraded to 168.75 points and a one-match ban when his good record is taken into account.
The charge would have been further downgraded to 126.56 points had Cornes entered an early guilty plea.
The AFL tribunal will sit at 4.30pm CST time on Tuesday afternoon. portadelaidefc.com.au will once again have live coverage of the tribunal.
It is the second charge from the AFL Match Review Panel in as many weeks after Justin Westhoff unsuccessfully challenged a one-match suspension at the AFL Tribunal last Tuesday.
