PORT Adelaide’s final game of 2011 will be played at Adelaide Oval, under a deal struck by the SANFL to deliver a history-making opportunity to SA football fans.

Club Welcomes Partnership & Investment

The clash - with Melbourne - will be the first AFL game played at Adelaide Oval but also the last played there before the ground is transformed into a world class multi-sport stadium.

Port Adelaide President Brett Duncanson said: “Port Adelaide is honoured to be playing its part on behalf of South Australian football.

“We have a very exciting future at Adelaide Oval, but also a great history. It is where we won many of our 36 SANFL Premierships, so it will be great to honour the ground’s past and also look to its - and the Club’s - future.

“The SANFL is to be applauded for making this happen and we thank Executive Commissioner Leigh Whicker for his leadership in delivering what will be an historic occasion.

“There will be some logistics to work through, but we are confident that our Members and Supporters will embrace this opportunity. We will keep them informed about seating, transport and other matters as we move closer to the game.”

Round 24 of the 2011 Toyota AFL Premiership Season runs between Friday September 2nd and Sunday September 4th. The scheduling of the eight games - including the Port Adelaide v Melbourne game - will be confirmed by the AFL closer to the end of the season.
