The AFL’s exchange period deadline passed on Friday afternoon, with the Power boosting its standing in the ‘critical’ NAB AFL National Draft next month.

The club completed one trade – that of midfielder Adam Thomson to Richmond in exchange for the Tigers’ third-round draft selection (No. 42 overall).

It means the Power’s first five selections at the draft on Saturday 29 November are 4, 22, 38, 42 and 54.

General Manager – Football Operations Peter Rohde said the club was now looking forward to utilising its draft selections.

“In what was obviously a quiet exchange period where clubs were reluctant to trade any draft picks, we are pleased to have furthered our draft position,” Rohde said.

“We believe this draft is a critical one for our club and Blair Hartley and the recruiting team have been outstanding in their preparation so far, so we are looking forward to capitalizing on our draft position.

“With the exchange period now over, we will go about getting our playing list ready to be part of the draft.”

The club expects to finalise decisions on its list by Friday of next week.
