A RETURN to some vintage form from Warren Tredrea has highlighted Port Adelaide's thumping 57-point victory over Melbourne at AAMI Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Tredrea was a dominant force deep in the Power's forward line, collecting six goals in his team's 22.15 (147) to 14.6 (90) win.

There was one sour note struck in Port Adelaide's performance, however, when skipper Domenic Cassisi was reported for an off-the-ball clash in the fourth quarter. He joined Colin Sylvia in the umpire's book with the Demon forward having his name taken in the opening term for striking Josh Carr.

For the third time in as many weeks, Melbourne fell away badly after matching it with the opposition in early stages of the match.

After an error-ridden first quarter, Port Adelaide blew the game open with a seven-goal second term that stretched their eight-point quarter time lead into a 37-point advantage at the major break.

The game petered out as a contest in the second half, with the Power gaining ascendency in all areas of the game. They ended the match with twelve separate goalkickers and winners all over the ground.

Robbie Gray was lively up forward for Port Adelaide, while Danyle Pearce joined the brothers -- Cornes and Burgoyne -- as influential contributors. Steven Salopek was also prolific with 33 touches.

Milestone man Daniel Motlop was not at his brilliant best, but still managed three goals in his 100th game, including a typically cheeky, jinking effort in the last term.

Unfortunately, the milestone fell flat for fellow 100-gamer Aaron Davey. Davey was one of the Demons' best, gathering the ball 30 times, but had little support.

Brad Green, with three goals, did his job, while Cameron Bruce was also effective.

But Melbourne were simply outclassed by a more skilful and adventurous opponent, who put last week’s poor performance behind it in convincing style.

The challenge for the Power will now be to replicate Sunday's form against a resurgent Hawthorn at the MCG when the teams meet at the MCG on Saturday afternoon.
