THE Power will be heading north in February as part of the annual AFL Telstra Community Camps program.
Last year it was Port Lincoln. This year it’s the Clare Valley region that gets its turn to go Power Crazy!
The entire playing squad, plus a selection of coaches and staff will be visiting schools in and around the town of Clare over two days - Monday February 14th and Tuesday February 15th. After leaving Alberton early on the Monday morning, players will visit schools in towns such as Clare, Auburn, Balaklava, Snowtown, Riverton and Saddleworth.
On the Monday afternoon the players will conduct a FREE Auskick clinic at Clare Oval. All children are welcome and encouraged to join in. There’ll be the chance to have a kick n’ catch and have your photo taken with your favourite Power players, followed by an autograph session where you could get the signature of every player on the list.
After spending the night in Clare, players will get up early on Tuesday for a light training session and breakfast before hitting the road to see more schools. This time we’ll be heading out of Clare to towns including Eudunda, Gladstone, Jamestown, Robertstown and Burra.
When asked about the upcoming Community Camp in and around Clare, team veteran and reigning best and fairest winner Kane Cornes answered “The playing group love hitting the road as a group and getting out and amongst rural communities every year."
"We really enjoy the local hospitality and every year, no matter which town we visit, they always do a great job of making us feel welcome.
“Some of the players in our squad are country boys, including Nick Salter who comes from Clare, so we know we’ll see some talent out at the Auskick clinic”.
If you live in or around Clare, keep an eye out for us on February 14/15th!
