THE Port Adelaide Football Club acknowledges the sanction imposed by the AFL on the club’s Assistant Coach Matthew Primus for his breach of the AFL’s betting policy, which involved a $20 bet on a 2009 preseason game not involving the Power.

The Power had proposed a club-imposed fine for Primus, however will now not proceed with the fine as it has been superseded by the AFL sanction.

Yesterday the AFL and the Port Adelaide Football Club completed an investigation into the source of the single $20 bet made 14 months ago.

The bet was made from a laptop computer assigned to Primus and included the 2009 NAB Cup semi-final match between Geelong and Carlton as a leg of a multi-bet also involving two English Premier League games.

The club will make no further comment on the matter, which it now regards as closed.
