Power stars Jacob Surjan and Troy Chaplin joined the kids at the Learning Club at Alberton Oval, as The Smith Family launched its 2011 Christmas Appeal to help disadvantaged children get an education.
Premier Jay Weatherill - an avid Port Adelaide supporter - kicked off the campaign in the Port Adelaide Football Club’s Community Classroom, pledging $25,000 on behalf of the State Government.
The Smith Family has formed a partnership with Power Community Ltd - the club’s community arm - and runs a twice-weekly Learning Club in the Community Classroom.
The Learning Club helps students who need added assistance with their school work. They receive tutoring from The Smith Family staff and volunteers, to support their literacy and numeracy development.
The Smith Family is dedicated to supporting disadvantaged students and helping to ensure they receive every opportunity to learn and to reach their full potential in life.
