The City of Port Adelaide Enfield council has begun a partial restoration of the iconic Fos Williams Family Stand at Alberton Oval.

The council is funding the restoration and is currently renewing the timbers on the three gables and balustrades of the club’s historic stands at the traditional and spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club.

Port Adelaide’s SANFL division, the ‘Magpies’, still plays at the ground which also serves as the training and administrative base of the ‘Power’ AFL side.

Stage One of the restoration of the Fos Williams Family Stand gables is nearing completion.

Previously, flag masts were placed at the fore of the gables from which the club flew banners bearing its traditional colours of black and white.

It is hoped that the restoration of the stand’s roof will give the club the ability to fly its flags from the famous stand again.
