Port Adelaide has gone down to Richmond by 37 points at AAMI Stadium - see how it happened quarter-by-quarter.

First Quarter

Dom Cassisi won the toss and kicked against the breeze, with Matthew Broadbent, Aaron Young and David Rodan on the bench, Darren Pfeiffer sub.

With light rain falling on AAMI Stadium, the game started with both sloppy conditions and skills, as both teams struggled to find a clean possession.

Riewoldt kicked an early goal off the ground for the Tigers, whilst Daniel Stewart and John McCarthy were unable to convert set shots for the Power.

Goals in the back end of the quarter to the Tigers through King and Miller boosted Richmond’s grasp on the lead, although a late steadier to Port through Matthew Broadbent closed the gap to just two goals - Richmond up by 2 goals.

Cameron Hitchcock has been substituted from the game for Darren Pfeiffer.

Second Quarter

Kicking with the wind in the second term, Brent Renouf opened his goal account with Port Adelaide by kicking the Power’s second for the day.

Richmond responded quickly though - putting on five straight goals to open up a sizeable forty-point lead.

The Power struggled to find targets and were far slower to adapt to the slippery conditions than their opponents.

Third quarter

Port Adelaide responded to its poor first half effort with two goals though Daniel Stewart and Ben Jacobs to close the margin to 36 points.

The Power continued to struggle inside its forward fifty to find the goals - unable to get clean possession and break Richmond’s ability to transition quickly out of defence.

A wayward kick from Hamish Hartlett provided John Butcher one of his best free marking options of the day and the crowd favourite proceeded to kick the Power’s third for the quarter.

Still trailing by thirty points, Port Adelaide battled hard to keep it in attacking fifty - slowly chopping away and showing the intent that went critically missing during the opening quarters.

Brent Renouf kicked his second for the day to close the Tigers’ lead to 24 points and keep Port within striking distance.

Port Adelaide’s hopes of stealing a win in the fourth quarter was given a major setback when Riewoldt booted another goal for Richmond early in the term.

Richmond proceeded to shut the game down and extended the lead to forty-three points by dying stages before Matthew Broadbent kicked his second on the final siren to reduce it to a 37 point final margin.
