PORT ADELAIDE life member Don McSweeny has been inducted into the South Australian Football Hall of Fame.

McSweeny has contributed much to Port Adelaide in his time as a country football administrator.

Awarded life membership of the club in 1993, McSweeny has actively promoted football across the Eyre Peninsula.

The Eyre Peninsula forms part of Port Adelaide’s country recruiting zone and McSweeny has worked tirelessly over more than twenty years to forge and foster links between football clubs in the country zone and the Magpies in the SANFL.

Importantly, he has grown the brand of Port Adelaide in the region during that time and advocated the pathway from junior football to SANFL competition with the Magpies.

McSweeny joined former Port Adelaide Football Club captains and champions Warren Tredrea and Gavin Wanganeen as inductees into the Hall of Fame last night.

The Port Adelaide Football Club congratulates Don on his honour and the recognition he has earned from the wider South Australian football community.

In addition to Tredrea, Wanganeen and McSweeny, Port Adelaide pays tribute to all of the 2012 inductees into the SA Football Hall of Fame:

The Hon Kevin Duggan - former SANFL tribunal chairman
