The SANFL was in a split round for Round 18, and the Power had a heap of players play in the first week last week.

This week, a host more players appeared, with many putting in strong performances on their way back from injury and as guest players at clubs whom they don’t normally represent.

SANFL Player of the Week
Jasper Pittard (for Double Blues reserves v Mapgies) - Jasper had a very good game, working hard to create an option - he had a good mix of offensive running and linking up by hand to receive the handball, as well as working hard to tackle, chase, and spoil. He’s improved his defensive accountability and it’s been a big development in his game that he’ll look to continue with over the remainder of the season. He used his main attributes of running and kicking, which stood out in this game considering the blustery conditions. He’s definitely pushing for AFL selection and had 21 kicks, 10 handballs, 4 marks, and 4 tackles.

Cameron Cloke (for Magpies v Double Blues) - Cam started well opposed to Giles, winning his fair share of hitouts and hunting the ball at stoppages. He tackled well and had several clearances both in the centre square and around the ground. Cam unfortunately hurt his ankle, and when he was ready to come back onto the ground he played more of a forward role, leading well towards the ball-carrier. He finished the day with 10 kicks, 1 handball, 5 marks, 4 tackles, 10 hit-outs, and 1 goal 1.

John Butcher (for Magpies reserves v Double Blues) - Butch played as a key forward, working hard in presenting towards the ball-carrier; the next trick is to really nail his positioning. When the ball hits the ground he needs to ensure he has a presence either offensively or defensively, depending on the situation. He’s working on his contested marking and will find reward in the next few weeks for all the hard work he’s put in coming off a back injury.

Marlon Motlop (guest for Double Blues reserves v Magpies) - It was a solid game for Marlon, using this game as a chance to build his game condition after being injured.; He worked hard to link up by hand while his kicking was solid in poor conditions. His football smarts and ability to read the play and provide run off the half-back flank are part of what makes him an exciting prospect at senior level. He had 15 kicks, 7 handballs, 6 marks, and 2 tackles.

Michael Pettigrew (guest for Redlegs reserves v Panthers) - It was a very good game for Michael in a team in which he was unfamiliar with those around him. He worked very hard both ways with speed and showed plenty of spring in his step by assisting defensively. When forward he was rewarded with a goal and set up a few more for his new teammates. He had some excellent highlights that will impress the coaching staff as he recovers from his injury and he’s improving each week as he gets more game time under his belt. He had 14 kicks, 2 handballs, 6 marks, 5 tackles, 2 hit-outs, and booted a goal.

Daniel Bass (for Panthers reserves v Redlegs) - Daniel keeps improving each week and again had a solid performance which should see him push for SANFL senior selection in the near future. His competitiveness is best highlighted by his ability to chase the ball down when it hits ground level, and he regularly lays a tackle or gains a clearance. He kicked a ripper goal from the boundary line when resting in the forward line as well. He had 5 kicks, 4 handballs, 3 marks, 2 tackles, 22 hit-outs, and also booted that lovely goal.

Jordan Johns (for Panthers reserves v Redlegs) - It wasn’t as good a game as in previous weeks, but when Johns got the opportunity to run and carry the ball he did this well. He now needs to work on getting into the right position in order to have an impact upon the play.
