Last night at The Port Club, more than 1000 fans came through the doors for the book signing of Since 1870 - A Pictorial History of the Port Adelaide Football Club. The club is also on the verge of reaching its ambitious membership target of 35,000 by game time tomorrow.
Port Adelaide CEO Mark Haysman said there was a great feeling around the club as we build towards our big double-header tomorrow.
“The atmosphere at the Port Club last night for the book signing was quite amazing. To have so many people at the Club was terrific but the emotion and atmosphere in the Port Club just showed how the Port Adelaide community has embraced their Club now that their teams are back together as One Port Adelaide Football Club,” Haysman said.
“It’s been reflected in our membership drive this year, with nearly 34,500 members signed up before we’ve played a home game. We think this momentum will continue tomorrow as we aim for a crowd in excess of 30,000 for the double-header.”
Haysman also pointed out the great work being done as part of the Back in Black Debt Reduction campaign, with more than 80 passionate Port Adelaide people committed to making a donation as a Foundation Leader.
“We’re delighted with the response to this campaign and we’re over half way to our goal of 150 Foundation Leaders.
“The Port Adelaide community has responded so positively in every way to the re-unification between the Power and Magpies and we’re just very thankful for the support. “The spirit of the Port Adelaide Football Club is alive and well. Tomorrow is going to be a very special day for our Club and our fans and we look forward to seeing a big crowd at AAMI Stadium tomorrow to celebrate.’
