THIS is a danger game for Carlton - a loss against the Power would really throw into question the Blues' status as a flag challenger. While they made it back onto the winner's list last weekend against struggling Melbourne, it wasn't a convincing victory.

The Power will enter the match having won two on the trot; the first time they've won consecutive games since the end of the 2010 season. But confidence alone won't be enough for the home side, a four-quarter effort is desperately needed against a quality opposition.

THE FOUR POINTS
PORT ADELAIDE

1. Last weekend's win over Gold Coast marked the first time the Power had won consecutive games since they beat West Coast, Melbourne and Richmond from rounds 20-22 in 2010. It's sure to be a confidence boost for the players, after they had showed promise in the early rounds without getting the rewards. At its best, Port Adelaide is a dangerous side, but it hasn't been able to sustain that level for long enough this season.

2. Conceding too many inside-50s has been the Power's affliction all season but, against Gold Coast, they managed to go into attack 14 more times than the Suns. It will obviously be harder against a Carlton outfit that started the year high in premiership calculations, but it was proof they can do it. It's hard to see them backing up that effort against an elite Carlton midfield, but it's about the only way victory would be possible.

3. Power forward Jay Schulz could have gone close to a career-best game against the Suns, but his normally dependable radar was off. He booted five behinds from set shots last weekend, after kicking seven goals straight the week before. As one of the most reliable shots for goal in the League, it's unlikely he'll be so wasteful two weeks in a row. Schulz is a key for the Power and when he fires, his side invariably does as well.

4. Travis Boak has had an indifferent season so far, failing to influence games as much as he would like to and is expected to. But he was back to his best against the Suns, with 28 disposals and three goals in a best-on-ground display. He is one Power player who desperately needs to string together several big performances to really get the side rolling. In his 100th AFL match, Port fans will be hoping Boak can produce an effort to compliment the milestone.

CARLTON
1. Brett Ratten got his first look at Matthew Kreuzer, Shaun Hampson and Robert Warnock in the same team last week and it will be interesting to see if he sticks with the three-tall experiment against Port Adelaide. Warnock impressed in his first game of the season, but if Jarrad Waite is passed fit to return to the Blues' forward line, one of the rucks may be under pressure to hold his spot.

2. Waite is no certainty to return to the line-up, however, with his back injury still being assessed on an ongoing basis. He's been out since round seven and his durability is a real concern for the Blues. Lachie Henderson (hip) and Chris Yarran (toe) were late withdrawals last week and will be close to making their returns.

3. After a fortnight of having their hardness at the contest questioned, the Blues hit back against the hapless Demons. Carlton smashed Melbourne in contested possessions, clearances and one-percenters. Port will need to lift its output in these areas to pull off an upset as it will go into the match ranked 16th, 15th and 15th in those statistical categories.

4. Road trips hold no fears for the Blues any more. Their form outside of Victoria has been a key area of improvement in the last few seasons, with their last four trips to AAMI Stadium yielding wins. Port Adelaide has not managed to get the chocolates against the Blues since round 19 of 2007 and has only beaten Carlton once at home since 2005. The stats say the Blues will win big, but Port's last home game against North Melbourne
