Chad Wingard became the 24th Port Adelaide player to be nominated for the AFL Rising Star Award.

CHAD Wingard became the 24th Port Adelaide player to be nominated for the AFL Rising Star Award.
Wingard starred in his first full game in the midfield, racking up 27 touches - 12 of them contested - six clearances and a goal, earning him the Round 22 Rising Star nomination.

It’s a deserved reward for Wingard’s first season, in which he has missed just three games - all through injury.
Wingard described the nomination as an honour and was quick to thank the coaches for his development.

He joins Port Adelaide’s rich history of Rising Star nominations, which includes two previous winners, Michael Wilson in 1997 and Danyle Pearce in 2006.
The 2012 NAB AFL Rising Star will be announced on Wednesday, September 5th in Melbourne.
